Rogers had a breakout season in 2000, finishing third at the U.S. Cross Country Championships, and then making the U.S. Olympic Team with a PR of 13:29.48 to place 3rd in the 5000...Set a new PR with a 13:18.50 in picking up the Olympic 'A' qualifying standard while taking 8th at Heusden, Belgium on August 8, 2000. Also in 2000, Rogers lowered his 10,000 PR to 28:15.17. Rogers was first noticed on the national scene in 1999 when he placed 7th in the USA 5,000 meters while working full-time as a light-fixtures salesman at Jerry's Home Improvement Center in Eugene. Rogers is currently a full-time athlete. His high school bests were 4:25 in the mile and 9:32 at two miles, and he was the Washington high school 2A, two-mile champion. Offered a scholarship to Eastern Washington University in 1994 - transferred to Oregon in the fall of 1996. Left Oregon in 1997 having never competed at an NCAA track meet.

2000: 3rd at the Olympic Trials in a PR 13:29.48...got his Olympic 'A' qualifier when he set another PR with a 13:18.50 while taking 8th at Heusden, Belgium on August 8...12th in 1st heat in Olympic 5000m...also has run 28:15.17 for 10,000 and another PR....third at U.S. Cross Country Championships...76th in long course race at World Cross Country Championships...ranked #4 U.S. by T&FN...bests of 13:18.50 and 28:15.17.
